Professional athletes are quite dedicated to their craft, so it isn’t surprising that many of their partners are their fellow athletes. Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey

Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey are two of the biggest stars of women’s ice hockey. Paulin, affectionally dubbed Captain Clutch, has three gold medals and one silver medal at the Winter Olympics. On the other hand, Stacey has one gold and one silver medal at the Winter Olympics.

The two champion forwards have been in a relationship since 2017, first establishing a connection under a shooting star. The two of them have played on the PWHL Montreal Victoire team as linemates since 2023, getting married in September of 2024. Stacey credits Paulin with making her a better player, while Paulin says Stacey helps her live more authentically.

Figure skating is one of the most emotionally-charged sports at the Winter Olympics. So, it should come as no surprise that one of the biggest love stories at the 2026 Winter Olympics are figure skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates. Both of them had different partners at the start of their careers, before teaming up in 2011, when they were teenagers.

Although they did go out on a few dates as teens, the romantic relationship fizzled, and they remained friends and skating partners. It wasn’t until 2016 that they started dating officially, going public in 2017. The two of them had won two gold medals in the team event at the Winter Olympics in 2022 and 2026. They won the silver in the Ice Dance event, though there has been a lot of controversy around the winners’ scores. Chock and Bates credit their chemistry for their connection on the ice and off of it.

There are very few Winter Olympic events more exciting than the skeleton race. Racers run up and jump onto their sled face down and head first, careening through the ice track. It was in this high-stakes world of skeleton racing that Nicole Silveira of Brazil and Kim Meylemans of Belgium met and fell in love.

Silveira won bronze in the Skeleton World Cup three times and a gold in the IBSF Pan American Championships once. Kim Meyelemans is a two-time European Championship gold medalist and a one-time World Championship silver medalist. Although they compete for different countries, they share everything from a sprinting coach to exercise equipment. The couple met in 2019 and bonded during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they shared accommodations. They have undoubtedly become one of the most adorable winter sports couples in the Olympics.

Curling may be considered lowkey by the other sports’ standards, but this curling mixed couple’s love story has made our hearts soar. Yannick Schwaller is a Swiss curler who has competed in men’s individual curling, winning silver three times in the European Championships and once in the World Championships. Briar Schwaller-Hürlimann is a Swiss curler who has competed in men’s individual curling, winning one gold at the World Championships and one silver at the European Championships.

The couple may have ranked 7th in the Mixed Doubles Curling event at the Winter Olympics, but they won everyone over. Their discipline is based on constant collaboration and communication, and their connection is obvious even through the screen. They and their son River, affectionately named Curling Baby, have made one of the best love stories at the 2026 Olympics.

Kaysha Love and Hunter Powell

Bobsled is an exciting winter sport that sees athletes hurling at speeds between 120 km/h (75 mph) and 150 km/h (93 mph). Although Kaysha Love and Hunter Powell didn’t originally meet because of bobsled, they’ve grown into two of the biggest U.S.A. Olympic bobsled team stars. They will each compete for a chance to win gold at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.

Kaysha and Hunter first met at college during a track meet. Love was originally a sprinter, while Powell was a decathlon athlete. But Powell always felt like something was missing until Love introduced him to the art of bobsledding. Love won the gold in the mono-bob discipline at the 2025 World Championship and bronze at the two-woman sled at the 2023 World Championship. They got engaged in 2025, making them one of the best love stories at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Bonus Pick: Chloe Kim and Myles Garrett

Plenty of athletes at the Winter Olympics have partners who are also professional athletes, but not competing at the Olympics. Chloe Kim and Myles Garrett are one such case. Chloe Kim is arguably the biggest name in women’s snowboarding. She has won two golds and one silver at the Winter Olympics half-pipe competition. On top of that, she has won 8 golds at the Winter X Games and 3 golds at the World Championships.

Myles Garrett is a professional American football player in the NFL. Garrett is a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, who selected him first overall in 2017. Since then, he has racked up quite a portfolio, winning the NFL DPOY award two times. He is also the single-season sack leader. These Winter Olympics, though, he showed up as the most supportive boyfriend to Chloe Kim. He was in the crowd for each of her runs, cheering loudly and taking pictures. This top-tier athlete couple has definitely made one of the best love stories at the Winter Olympics.
