Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of the most universally beloved sitcoms among fans and critics alike. It boasts a 95% Tomatometer rating and an 88% Popcornmeter rating. This show manages to combine humor and social justice, touching moments and moments of unhinged behavior. That is why Brooklyn Nine-Nine is, in our opinion, one of the most well-done ensemble sitcoms ever.
Its cast, including the late, great Andre Braugher, comedic genius Andy Samberg, and top-tier character actress Stephanie Beatriz made this show shine. There’s a reason we included it in our list of the best sitcoms of all time. So, without further ado, here are the funniest Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes in its 8 seasons, in our opinion.
Halloween
You would be hard-pressed to find an episode that better epitomizes all of the best B99 features than Halloween. This is the first heist episode out of eight, and it set the standard for the chaotic humor of all the others. The episode begins by Jake claiming he would make a great criminal and his fellow detectives would never catch him. Captain Holt counters by saying he is certain Jake would be caught, and thus the bet happens.

Jake bets that he can steal Holt’s Medal of Valor, while Holt is adamant that Jake can’t. Jake has several failed gambits, like his crash through the ceiling and the uncooperative pigeons. We learn in the end that he enlisted his fellow detectives’ help to steal the Medal, while distracting Holt. The episode also includes the hilarity of Halloween-hater Amy and Halloween-lover Boyle going undercover in costumes. As the cherry on top, this episode is the first time we hear the line “Title of your sex tape.”
Beach House
The episode Beach House is one of the strongest arguments we can make for long TV show seasons. These filler episodes are precisely why we love watching sitcoms. In Beach House, Jake, Amy, and the others go on a weekend getaway to Boyle’s beach house. The setup with the detectives going to a beach house in the dead of winter is already hilarious, and then Jake invites Captain Holt.

The main source of comedy is the detectives trying to keep the real party and the Holt non-party separate. But Rosa and Boyle texting Rosa’s boyfriend, Hitchcock and Scully’s business ideas, and Amy’s drunkenness made us laugh for 20 minutes straight. Everyone, from chill Terry to six-drink Amy, made it one of the funniest Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes in its 8 seasons.
Cop-Con
The fourth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine delivered many gems, but none as memorable as Cop-Con, rated 8.2/10 on IMDb. The 17th episode of the season starts with Jake nearly making Hitchcock drown in a bowl of water accidentally. The main attraction, though, is the cop convention set to take place in Rochester, where the squad plans to let loose. Captain Holt expressly forbids it because he is running for a seat on the convention’s board of directors.

When they arrive in Rochester, the 9-9 detectives realize that the Buffalo P.D. cops, as the usual party hosts, are getting arrested. So, they decide to throw their own party. To no one’s surprise, the party goes way overboard, and the detectives lose the Captain’s laptop, which he gave to Terry to jazz up his presentation. With lines like “To make tequila steam.” and “You’re farting bubbles.” you will be on the floor, laughing. This episode remains one of the funniest Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes in its 8 seasons nearly a decade later.
