Coyote vs ACME is proof that true filmmaking still exists. This movie began development in 2018, while the live-action was filmed in 2022. But we almost didn’t get to see it because Warner Bros. decided to shelve it to get a tax write-off. Only after they received massive public backlash did they allow the producers to find another way to distribute it. And so we got one of the best movies of 2026 with a 96% on Tomatometer and 95% on Popcornmeter.
In an era when Disney’s live action movies keep failing, and most movies are spin-offs or reboots, Coyote vs ACME is refreshing. Although you are very familiar with the Looney Tunes, this is still a brand-new plotline. With a runtime of 1 hour and 43 minutes, it’s ideal entertainment for you, your friends, and your family. Regardless of age and background, you’ll have fun watching Coyote vs ACME.
Fantastic Blend of Animation and Live Action
One of the features that immediately stands out in this movie is the blend of animation and live action. It would’ve been more convenient to make Coyote vs ACME a completely animated movie. But, director Dave Green took a different approach. He decided to take the animated world of Looney Tunes and put it into the real, live-action world. So, you get scenes like Coyote E. Wile getting all his failed ACME contraptions out of the cartoon bag and onto the very real parking lot.

This direction style enables you to enjoy both the trademark Looney Tunes animation and the grounded real world. The animations set against the real-life backdrop work seamlessly. You won’t find a single second of the movie that doesn’t feel immersive and entertaining. That’s what makes it one of the best movies of 2026.
Poignant Anti-Capitalist Message
While all movies compete for awards like the Oscars and box office earnings, their messages are often deeper. That is the case with Coyote vs ACME, though it may seem like it’s simply a comedy that includes your favorite cartoon characters. The very basis of the plot— Coyote suing ACME for selling him faulty equipment- is anti-capitalist.

More than that, the message of the movie that tells you that trying and showing up for your community is more important than simply winning adds to the anti-capitalist message. Finally, though jokingly, the corruption that the movie shows us through Buddy Crane and the ACME corporation is a very real indictment of capitalism itself.
Refreshing Take on the Looney Tunes
The Looney Tunes are nearly a hundred years old, dating back to 1930. We’ve seen them in hundreds, if not thousands, of different iterations. From their very first in black and white, to their collaboration with Michael Jordan in Space Jam, it seemed like all the stories had been told. And then, this idea about Coyote suing the ACME Corporation as a way to catch the Road Runner came up.

The idea may seem a little out there at first, but the creative team makes it work. You get to watch Wile E. Coyote sit in settlement negotiations and congressional hearings. You get to watch Tweety work (under duress) with Buddy Crane and ACME. You get to watch Bugs Bunny act as a secretive informant. All of these takes on the characters feel very authentic without sacrificing any of the humor. So, Coyote VS ACME is undoubtedly one of the best movies of 2026.
